Meeting with the families of abductees by North Korea and U.S. Ambassador-Designate to Japan H.E. Mr. George Glass and Mrs. Mary Glass
On May 15, for about an hour from 2:00 pm, Mr. YOKOTA Takuya, the Representative of the Association of Families of Victims Kidnapped by North Korea and other families of abductees, met with H.E. Ambassador-Designate and Mrs. George Glass of the United States of America to Japan at the U.S. Embassy in Tokyo.
The meeting was attended by Mr. TSUJI Kiyoto, State Minister of Cabinet Office, Mr. KAWANO Makoto, Vice-Minister of the Secretariat for Headquarters for the Abduction Issue and Mr. OKOCHI Akihiro, Deputy Director-General of the Asian and Oceanian Affairs Bureau in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The families of the abductees expressed their sincere hope that the time left to resolve the abductions issue is limited and asked for the United States’ continuous support and cooperation in order to realize the earliest possible return of all abductees.
State Minister TSUJI also expressed his appreciation for the cooperation between Japan and the U.S. on the abductions issue.
H.E. Ambassador-Designate and Mrs. George Glass listened carefully to the statements of the families of abductees. And H.E. Ambassador-Designate stated that the United States remains committed to work with Japan to seek an immediate resolution of the abductions issue.
